About Us

AN AGRICULTURAL COMPANY. AN INDUSTRIAL VISION.

Gloria Terrae is a Sicilian agricultural company and an Italian cotton producer with fields in Ramacca, on the Catania Plain at the foot of Mount Etna. The company is part of ICS S.p.A., an international group active in the renewable energy sector.

ICS’s experience has made it possible to combine cotton cultivation with energy production on land designated for agrivoltaic use. This approach marks a return to cotton farming in Sicily, where the crop was gradually abandoned during the twentieth century.

In Ramacca, we grow organic cotton with a clear objective: to provide the Italian textile supply chain with traceable fiber whose origin can be documented.

ALIAI VENTURI QUATTRINI

Gloria Terrae is led by Aliai Venturi Quattrini. The question that set the project in motion concerns Made in Italy: why stop at textile manufacturing when the fiber itself can also be grown in Italy?

Much of the cotton used by the Italian textile industry comes from abroad. It can be difficult to establish where it was grown, which agricultural practices were used and under what conditions. For Aliai, addressing this limitation means investing directly in agricultural production.

In the fields of Ramacca, we practice organic cotton farming and document the origin of each harvest. Information about cultivation and subsequent processing connects agricultural production with textile manufacturing and makes it possible to trace the fiber's journey.

PEOPLE AND EXPERTISE

THE PEOPLE WORKING IN OUR FIELDS.

Gloria Terrae's fields bring together local farmers, people from other countries, cotton specialists and workers in vulnerable circumstances. Different backgrounds and experiences are part of daily agricultural operations, with clearly defined tasks and responsibilities.

The company places safety, fairness and respect for people at the center of its daily operations. Collaboration is an essential part of fieldwork, where activities must be coordinated and adapted to the needs of the crop.

ABOUT US

Growing Sicilian cotton requires agricultural, technical and organizational expertise. Agronomists study the soil and monitor plant development. Specialists analyze the characteristics of the fiber, while field workers carry out day-to-day operations.

This work is supported by operational coordination, agricultural equipment maintenance, purchasing and logistics. The contribution of these different professional roles makes it possible to plan field operations, organize the work and manage activities through to harvest.
